So we've had a couple days to think about this madness, what with the White Sox having had yesterday off. And they needed a day off to rest and recuperate. And so did we. I've had time to consider this, and my time has taught me that if my actions indeed have any bearing on how the Sox play, then I need to be more positive. And so the last bad thing I'll say is this: we did drop three of four to Tampa, but the Rays are a good team this year. That's all I'll say.
Now we have the opportunity to start anew with this seven-game homestand. First KC is coming to town for three games, then we have Minnesota for another four.
The Royals are drawing up the rear in the AL Central, but don't let their ugly 23-34 record fool you. They have a decent ball club, and they have a couple of talented young players, and some solid veterans too. And with Zack Greinke taking the mound, you just know that the White Sox hitters are going to have to be on their game. This is a big comeback game for the Sox. Kansas City comes into this game having won two games straight against Cleveland (of course, they did drop 12 straight before that, but that's beside the point). They have momentum on their side, and the White Sox have now lost three straight. That's not negative, it's just the case.
Fortunately, we have Gavin Floyd starting on the bump, so that should definitely make things interesting. We can hope for a good game, or we can hope for a blowout. Either way, the White Sox have to win. We're a half-game up on the Twins, who tonight will host the first of a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, who, at 27-29, are bringing up the rear of the AL East.
No big deal, we just have to win. And to win, we just have to hit. Our pitching, as I have mentioned, is solid right now, and it looks like it could stay that way. The trouble is that Greinke, who is 5-2 on the season, comes into tonight's outing with a lovely ERA of just 2.88-- so let's hope we can raise it tonight.
Ozzie's had an outburst, but things look at the moment to be patched up. Whether or not we get that move he was gunning for after our last loss to the Rays, we'll just have to wait and see. But right now, I'm happy with our team. We know they can hit, and they know it too. They just have to do it.
And with that airtight analysis of the White Sox current bats, I'll sign off for the moment. Until later tonight... Let's Go, Good Guys.
