Alexei Ramirez as good as advertised. Kind of. Offensively he looks great so far. Against early spring training pitching it doesn’t mean too much I suppose. Defensively, not so good. Though I guess I could give the same “it’s early” disclaimer. Ozzie went ahead and said that he was a bit rough defensively and I have seen him look terribly uncomfortable out there with my own eyes. I’m thinking we probably end up seeing Uribe at 2B after all. But more than likely he'll at least make the team. I really want him to have a shot.
Carlos Quentin is HUGE! I don’t recall this guy and certainly not looking like that but seeing him step to the plate recently he looks like he’s got some serious power. I don’t believe he’s actually shown any power yet but I’m just sayin.
Don’t call me Bourgeois. Little Willie Harris is the first thing I thought when I saw this kid. In reality, they are officially listed at an identical 5’9 170. Do we have any interleague action with the Nationals this year? No? Well it’s all very suspicious to me. In reality there’s no space for him on the team but he looks to have a great spring. Technically speaking if he plays well enough he could scrap into a roster spot. Early hot streaks tend to make that happen. Our current infielders have some experience with that like Ozuna making the team a couple years ago and Uribe cracking the starting lineup that same way.
Everybody drink the Kool-Aid. I’ve gone from no way to well let’s just see what happens with John Danks. I’m thinking I like the way he looks up there right now. By the end of March maybe I’ll be willing to use my pen instead of pencil to put him in that 4th spot of the rotation. So I’ve bought in, shoot me.
Meanwhile…
Nobody worry about Johan Santana and his poor debut. I think Juan Gonzalez was just due. I’m definitely of the belief that he’s going to have a ridiculous season.
Speaking of the NL East, mighty competitive eh? I’m thinking Philly but I’d love to see the Bravos get back in the playoffs. The Mets? Anybody know how old Moises Alou is?
I’ve decided I like the Mike Scioscia rotating outfield plan. Unfortunately the players don’t and unhappy players make happy opposition.
Bias. Yes, I know I am biased, but the whole Cubs a lock to win the N.L. Central thing? The Brewers look very very good to me. Watch that.
