These “precautionary” scratches from the lineup are really making me wonder. Carlos Quentin got pulled because of a shoulder. Jerry Owens of course missed that time with a groin, and now is missing more games, which worries me greatly (see end of season ’05 Podsednik). Smoke and mirrors really piss me off. I guess it really is only spring training and I should just let it go.
Laying down the law
Ozzie said it himself. More small ball. Well in that case I’ve just upped my Bourgeois assessment from long shot of making the team to pretty darn likely after I watched him lay down a great looking bunt in the Rangers game yesterday. The Sox tried and tried last year to get anybody to lay down a decent bunt and just ended up constantly looking stupid. We need at least one guy we know we can call on. It’s probably a stretch since there is no room in the infield for him but I say go for it. Let Richar spend some more time in Charlotte. He can fill out his visa paperwork for next season in his down time.
Meanwhile…
Riddle me this
So Albert Pujols has a torn ligament in his elbow, also bone spurs and arthritis. I remember hearing about this a bit last season. I guess it’s gotten worse? Yet even in “take it easy” spring ABs he is not really showing signs. So how the hell is this possible? What do you need to do to get the guy to I can’t perform? I’m both amazed and disgusted. One more minor injury though and I’d have to think that’s it for the year, thus ruining the Cardinal’s season. What? Oh, nevermind. Seasons over for them already anyway.
Stealing on the pitcher
The Red Sox are giving Papelbon about twice what he made last year, but ¾ of a mil for a super closer, that’s just silly. I guess I’m not in a position to talk. Bobby Jenks is also being gypped out of a few dollars. But that’s different, cuz, uh…
Seeeeee
Ladies and gentleman, Moisthands Alou has hurt himself. Carlos Delgado has a deck of cards ready; I hear they are very competitive. You’ll be fine Moises, just pee on it and it will heal quicker.
