Royals starter Zack Greinke also earned an early exit when he tried to get revenge in the seventh by hitting Nick Swisher, but by then the score was 12-2, and not even this could motivate the White Sox to score more than one run. Griffey started at DH, and went 1-2 before being pulled when the game was out of reach; Swisher went 1-3 and Konerko, 0-4. Only AJ Pierzynski collected more than one hit, including an eighth inning solo shot.

Olivo took umbrage, charged the hill, and earned an ejection for himself, while manager Ozzie Guillen and Carrasco were also tossed.

Well, we won a game. We ought to start feeling better about this team, don't you think so? Well, the relevant question, actually, is do you feel better about it?
All I know is, I'm not convinced.

Fact. I have yet to go to a White Sox game this year where Joe Crede did not hit a grand slam. What could be better than that? Let me tell you:
As I stood at the gate waiting to get in, with my modest upper deck ticket in hand, there was a fella giving away tickets that weren’t going to be used, just 5 rows behind the Sox dugout. Naturally, I took them. A cold windy Sunday game in April turned into a sun-filled shouting distance display of Sox offense. I’d like to thank Brian Gant from Riddell Sports for being kind enough to not let those tickets go to waste. Very clutch.

Ozzie Guillen swears that Phil Cuzzi, the home plate umpire at the Sox home opener has a vendetta against him. He flew out of the dugout in the 3rd inning to argue balls and strikes and ended up getting tossed. Of course. Arguing balls and strikes pisses any ump off. No vendetta necessary. This is a little too much Ozzie if you ask me. Though I do enjoy hearing him rant angrily from time to time.

Juan Uribe is off of waivers and officially a member of the 2008 White Sox. Further, he’s our most of the time second baseman after putting on a nice little hitting display during his little waiver stint. What does it all mean? I’d like to think that it means he’ll be hitting like he can throughout the season and we’ve got ourselves a solid 2B and bottom lineup hitter. More realistically I’m just hoping he can keep his hot streak going through at least the first couple weeks of the season. If we can make a good showing through April I think we stand a good chance to stay near the top of the central.

Really, it’s a wonder they didn’t lose more. This past off season, Ozzie Guillen and the front office cited a lack of energy as the reason for the dismal season. Operating on that belief, they went out and acquired the hyper active Orlando Cabrera and boisterous, fun-loving Nick Swisher via trades with Anaheim and Oakland, hoping they will re-energize the team.

You’re killin me!
These “precautionary” scratches from the lineup are really making me wonder. Carlos Quentin got pulled because of a shoulder. Jerry Owens of course missed that time with a groin, and now is missing more games, which worries me greatly (see end of season ’05 Podsednik). Smoke and mirrors really piss me off. I guess it really is only spring training and I should just let it go.

Alexei Ramirez as good as advertised. Kind of. Offensively he looks great so far. Against early spring training pitching it doesn’t mean too much I suppose. Defensively, not so good. Though I guess I could give the same “it’s early” disclaimer. Ozzie went ahead and said that he was a bit rough defensively and I have seen him look terribly uncomfortable out there with my own eyes. I’m thinking we probably end up seeing Uribe at 2B after all. But more than likely he'll at least make the team. I really want him to have a shot.

Juan Uribe is a liar. He claims he’ll do whatever the Sox want as far as his position goes. I’m gonna go head and call him a liar. Did I already say that? He has apparently dropped a few pounds which is good; he was beginning to look a little like a Molina. That’s not going to stop him from swinging at everything thrown in the general direction of the plate. I think his attitude adjustment will only last as long as it takes Ozzie to award a starting spot to someone else (Ramirez).

They also report that it came as a result of a visit from Ozzie Guillen and he denies it ever happened so I guess we’ll have to see. Like I said though, John Danks. John Danks.
