Okay, so I was wrong about the Skins, Jim Zorn's ultra simplistic west coast offense is catching on and maybe that defensive strategy isn't as bad as I thought. Then again, every D Coordinator has a good game every now and then(See Steve Sidwell's demolition of Michael Vick game plan in 2002). The Skins have the right personnel to deal with the Cowboys, physical, big, strong corners that excel in man coverage. In their previous scheme, due to all the blitzing and crowding the line, they were often left on an island with very little help. Now, with timely blitz schemes, they are getting help from linebackers and safeties that they didn't have before. The Cowboys game plan wasn't the best, but the Skins did a good job of disrupting their rhythm. Regardless, Jason Witten is the best patch catching tight end in years, and yes he's better than Tony Gonzalez.
The Washington Huskies are absolutely terrible. I can't say anything more or it will get me angry and ruin my day.
Bama will not finish the season undefeated, too many land mines in the SEC East and I think they are playing over their heads right now. They are a good, physical, fundamentally sound team with talent at the right positions, but I don't think they can get through the SEC unscatched. Georgia is the Clemson of the SEC. Loads of talent, but big time chokability. Lets see Bama roll through LSU and Florida before we anoint them.
Notre Dame is going to ride a comically easy schedule to a good record and a legit bowl bid. The sick part is people will take the record as a sign that they are a good team. Too bad its false, once again this is an offense that relies on catching its X and Z receivers with man to man coverage on the outside and winning jump balls with their taller and athletically superior wide receivers. This works against athletically challenged defenses like San Diego State and Purdue, but USC and a potential SEC team in a bowl game will once again blow apart the Notre Dame facade. They still can't stop the run. You can't win against good teams if you can't stop the run. Its simple.
